Gospel of Matthew 13:47-50 Message | Jesus' Kingdom Goes Big (He Goes Fishing for Every Kind) So We Can Come Home

If we glimpse the net of the ever-reaching grace of God extended through Jesus’ reign in the Kingdom of heaven, we can begin to grasp just how great His love and salvation is that goes fishing for people of every kind. If He pursues us and meets us in our deepest need, and He chooses people like us to bring home, He can do the same for anyone …

Homily Scriptures | Matthew 13:47-50

Homily Video | The Miracle of the Fish (4+ minutes)

The scene in the video captures the kind of shock and awe Jesus creates when He brings in a catch that blesses us beyond measure even in the face of our doubt, fears, and wonder ...

Prayer of Confession & Assurance |

One: Loving and faithful God, You save and sustain us.
All: What marvelous Good News You give us through Jesus!
One: Yet we miss or ignore opportunities to share Your grace and love.
All: We fail to see, as Your Word says, Yours is “a large net” and You “collect every kind of fish.” May we participate in this Kingdom catch.
One: Forgive us for our reluctance and our lack of vision.
All: Open our eyes to Your reality: That You are casting out Your net for fish among our family, friends, co-workers, neighbors & enemies.
One: Give us the courage and the opportunity to tell them about You.
All: And may we trust You with the results. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Call to Worship | Ezekiel 47:1, 8-9

Then he brought me back to the entrance of the temple and there was water flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east ... He said to me, “This water flows out to the eastern region and goes down to the Arabah. When it enters the sea, the sea of foul water, the water of the sea becomes fresh. Every kind of living creature that swarms will live wherever the river flows, and there will be a huge number of fish because this water goes there.”

Christ Is Risen
Matt Maher, 2009 A.D.

Let no one caught in sin remain
Inside the lie of inward shame,
But fix our eyes upon the cross
And run to Him who showed great love
And bled for us. Freely, You've bled for us.

Christ is risen from the dead,
Trampling over death by death!
Come awake, come awake,
Come and rise up from the grave!
Christ is risen from the dead,
We are one with Him again!
Come awake, come awake,
Come and rise up from the grave!

Beneath the weight of all our sin,
You bowed to none but heaven's will.
No scheme of hell, no scoffer's crown,
No burden great can hold You down.
In strength You reign,
Forever let Your Church proclaim! (Chorus)

O death, where is your sting?
O hell, where is your victory?
O Church, come stand in the light,
The glory of God has defeated the night!
O death, where is your sting?
O hell, where is your victory?
O Church, come stand in the light,
Our God is not dead! He's alive! He's alive! (Chorus)

Getting Ready
Maverick City Music + Upperroom, 2020 A.D.

What an honor to be invited to the marriage of the Lamb,
To come and worship Him.
Celebration, it’s the joining of the Bride and the Son,
The two becoming one.
All the prophecies fulfilled in a moment, so we sing ...

Like the roar of many waters,
Like the sound of rolling thunder,
Hallelujah, give Him glory
For the marriage of the Lamb is coming!

We’re getting ready, we're getting ready ...

Filled with wonder, as we behold the man with fire in his eyes,
The very Word of God.
You are worthy, every kingdom, every nation bowing down,
We’ll crown You with many crowns.
Every creed and tribe and tongue declaring in unity ... (Chorus)

We’ll shout ‘til the whole world hears it,
We’ll sing ‘til the whole world knows,
"King Jesus, He is Faithful! He is the blessed hope!"

Benediction based on Matthew 25:14-30

Go in the peace and power of Christ. Love and care for
one another and your neighbors in Jesus’ name, and may
God bless you with every gift needful for His work. May the
Spirit grant you the willingness to risk yourself completely
for the sake of the Gospel, and may hope and faith in Jesus
dwell richly within you until He makes all things new. Amen.
