Jesus: I Am the Door + Sunday, March 24 w/ Pleasant St. CRC

"What if God's the one pursuing us, and our job is not to discover the light but to simply step out of the shadows? Not to ramp up our search for God, but to receive God's search for us?" (J.R. Butler, The Pursuing God) ... Not to ask Jesus for it to be easier for us to get through multiple doors, but for Jesus to be the Shepherd, the Doorkeeper, and the Door who leads us out into this world to live fully with Him and others for the life of the world.

O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus
S. Trevor Francis, 1875 A.D.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me,
Is the current of Thy love!
Leading onward, leading homeward
To Thy glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Spread His praise from shore to shore!
How He loveth, ever loveth,
Changeth never, nevermore!
How He watches o’er His loved ones,
Died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth,
Watcheth o’er them from the throne!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
Love of every love the best!
’Tis an ocean full of blessing,
’Tis a haven giving rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
’Tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,
For it lifts me up to Thee!

Lord, I Need You
Chris Tomlin, 2011 A.D.

Lord, I come, I confess,
Bowing here I find my rest.
Without You I fall apart.
You're the One that guides my heart.

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You,
Every hour I need You;
My one defense, my righteousness,
Oh God, how I need You!

Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more.
Where grace is found is where You are.
And where You are, Lord, I am free,
Holiness is Christ in me! (Chorus)

Teach my song to rise to You.
When temptation comes my way,
And when I cannot stand, I'll fall on You.
Jesus, You're my hope and stay. (Chorus

I Sought the Lord, and Afterward I Knew
Anonymous, 1878 A.D.

I sought the Lord, and afterward I knew
He moved my soul to seek Him, seeking me;
It was not I that found, O Savior true;
No, I was found, was found of Thee.
It was not I that found, O Savior true;
No, I was found, was found of Thee.

Thou didst reach forth Thy hand and mine enfold;
I walked and sank not on the storm-vexed sea;
'Twas not so much that I on Thee took hold,
As Thou, dear Lord, on me, on me.
'Twas not so much that I on Thee took hold,
As Thou, dear Lord, on me, on me.

I find, I walk, I love; but O the whole
Of love is but my answer, Lord, to Thee!
For Thou wert long beforehand with my soul;
Always, always Thou lovedst me.
For Thou wert long beforehand with my soul;
Always, always Thou lovedst me.

Nothing But the Blood
Robert Lowry, 1876 A.D.

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! Precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow!
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

For my pardon, this I see:
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my cleansing, this I plea,
"Nothing but the blood of Jesus!"
(Refrain Repeat)

This is all my hope and peace:
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
This is all my righteousness:
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
(Refrain Repeat)

All the People Said Amen
Matt Maher, 2013 A.D.

You are not alone, if you are lonely,
When you're feeling frail, you're not the only.
We are all the same, in need of mercy, to be forgiven and free.
It's all you got to lean on but, thank God, it's all you need!

And all the people said "Amen!"
Woah, and all the people said "Amen!"
Give thanks to the Lord for His love never ends,
And all the people said "Amen!"

If your rich or poor, well it don't matter.
Weak or strong, we know love is what we're after.
We're all broken, but we're all in this together.
God knows we stumble and fall
And He so loved the world He sent His Son to save us all!
(Chorus)

Blessed are the poor in spirit who are torn apart!
Blessed are the persecuted and the pure in heart!
Blessed are the people hungry for another start
For this is the Kingdom, the Kingdom of God!
(Chorus)

Tasting Grace

Take, eat, remember and believe that the body of our Lord Jesus Christ was given for the complete forgiveness of all sins. Take, drink, remember, and believe that the precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ was shed for the complete forgiveness of all our sins.

Jesus, by Your Spirit, fill us with Yourself,
the true Bread and Vine. We turn to You now to

Loving God, we thank You that You have fed us in this sacrament, united us with Christ, and given us a foretaste of the heavenly banquet in Your eternal Kingdom. Send us out in the power of Your Spirit to live and work to Your praise and glory for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
