Reading: Psalm 107

1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!
2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from trouble
and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west,
from the north and from the south.

Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in;
hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.
He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in.
Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love,
for His wondrous works to the children of man!
For He satisfies the longing soul,
and the hungry soul he fills with good things.

10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,
prisoners in affliction and in irons,
11 for they had rebelled against the words of God,
and spurned the counsel of the Most High.
12 So He bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
they fell down, with none to help.
13 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and He delivered them from their distress.
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
    and burst their bonds apart.
15 Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love,
for His wondrous works to the children of man!
16 For He shatters the doors of bronze and cuts in two the bars of iron.

17 Some were fools through their sinful ways,
    and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;
18 they loathed any kind of food,
and they drew near to the gates of death.
19 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and He delivered them from their distress.
20 He sent out His word and healed them,
and delivered them from their destruction.
21 Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love,
for His wondrous works to the children of man!
22 And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and tell of His deeds in songs of joy!

23 Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters;
24 they saw the deeds of the LordHis wondrous works in the deep.
25 For He commanded and raised the stormy wind,
which lifted up the waves of the sea.
26 They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths;
    their courage melted away in their evil plight;
27 they reeled and staggered like drunken men
and were at their wits' end.
28 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and He delivered them from their distress.
29 He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.
30 Then they were glad that the waters were quiet,
and He brought them to their desired haven.
31 Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love,
for His wondrous works to the children of man!
32 Let them extol Him in the congregation of the people,
and praise Him in the assembly of the elders.

33 He turns rivers into a desert, springs of water into thirsty ground,
34 a fruitful land into a salty waste, because of the evil of its inhabitants.
35 He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water.
36 And there He lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in;
37 they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield.
38 By His blessing they multiply greatly,
and He does not let their livestock diminish.

39 When they are diminished and brought low
    through oppression, evil, and sorrow,
40 He pours contempt on princes
    and makes them wander in trackless wastes;
41 but He raises up the needy out of affliction
and makes their families like flocks.
42 The upright see it and are glad, and all wickedness shuts its mouth.

43 Whoever is wise, let Him attend to these things;
let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord.

Questions:

How do you work to increase in wisdom and consideration of the steadfast love of the LORD from day to day?
How are you thanking Him for His steadfast love?
How are you sharing His steadfast love with others?

Your love never fails,
It never gives up,
It never runs out on me!
(x3)

Your love
Never gives up on me

And it's higher than the mountains that I face,
And it's stronger than the power of the grave,
And it's constant in the trial and the change;
This one thing remains!

And it's higher than the mountains that I face,
And it's stronger than the power of the grave,
And it's constant in the trial and the change;
This one thing remains!
This one thing remains!

Your love never fails,
It never gives up,
It never runs out on me!
(x3)

Your love

And on and on and on and on it goes!
Yes, it overwhelms and satisfies my soul!

And I never, ever,
have to be afraid!

This one thing remains,

This one thing remains
!

Your love never fails,
It never gives up,
It never runs out on me!

(x3)

Your love

In death, in life
I'm confident and covered by
The power of Your great love!
My debt is paid,

There's nothing that can separate

My heart from Your great love!

Your love never fails,
It never gives up,
It never runs out on me!
(x3)

Your love

And on and on and on and on it goes!
Yes, it overwhelms and satisfies my soul!

And I never, ever,
have to be afraid!

This one thing remains!

Your love never fails,
It never gives up,
It never runs out on me!
(x3)

Your love

Prayer I | With God as Son, we aid and advocate for our city as servants
Jesus the Son is the supreme King over all creation who served us first to bring about the rule and reign of God; so we are to serve others as we were and are served by Jesus to bring glimpses of His kingdom into the present.

” … whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.”
– Mark 10:43-44

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. ... For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.

Questions:

Where are you seeing the city of Worcester needing to be served today?
How do you see Emmaus City stepping in to meet that need?
How can we bring a glimpse of the restoration Jesus fully brings to the places we live and work?

2011 A.D.

Give us a love for peace, move us to brokenness
Our generosity, release from poverty.
Your Kingdom here and now to the least of these.
Distribute what we have that all may taste and see.

Chorus
Let Your Kingdom come, let Your will be done
So all the Earth will say and echo angels' praise
That You are God!

So let the sick run free, the orphan finds her home.
The captured man will know release from slavery.
Your Kingdom here and now to the least of these.
Distribute what we have that all may taste and see.
(Chorus Repeat)

Bridge
We pray and ask for hope!
We pray and ask for peace!
We pray and ask for justice!
We pray and ask for You!
 (x3)
(Chorus Repeat)

2014 A.D.

For the fatherless, we pray be the Father.
Let those who lost their way be understood.
For the widow and the broken
– be the Lover who will hold them.
We know that You are God and You are good.
Yes, we know that You are God and You are good.

For those who mourn today, be the comfort,
And who hunger after You, be satisfied.
You bless the poor in spirit for heaven is their kingdom.
We know that You are God and You are good.
Yes, we know that You are God and You are good.

Chorus 1
You are God, You're the risen King.
You are good, Lord of everything.
No mountain, no valley could ever separate us
from Your love.
You are God and You are good.
Yes, we know that You are God and You are good.

As we look upon Your Word, God give us vision.
Restore us by the power of Your blood.
Come now, Holy Spirit – when You whisper let us hear it.
We know that You are God and You are good.
Yes, we know that you are God and you are good.

Bridge
So come now in power!
And let our chains be broken!
Pour out Your Spirit!
 Jesus, our hearts are open!

Chorus 2
You are God, You're the risen King!
You are good, Lord of everything!
No mountain, no valley could ever separate us!
No power, no darkness, could ever stand between us!
No mountain, no valley could ever separate us
from Your love!
You are God and You are good.
Yes, we know that You are God and You are good.
Prayer II | With who God is, and what He has done in Jesus for us,
we are disciples who make disciples
As His family of missionary servants, we follow Jesus where He leads in our neighborhoods and city for His glory.

“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always’ …”– Matthew 28:18-20

Reading: Acts 4:24-33

And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit,
‘Why did the Gentiles rage,
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers were gathered together,
against the Lord and against His Anointed’"
for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.

Questions:

How often do you think we should be praying for boldness to speak the words of Jesus?
Who are you praying for that you will have the privilege to disciple in the ways of Jesus this coming year?
What do you think it would look like for "great grace" to be upon all of Emmaus City?

Here I am down on my knees again
Surrendering all, surrendering all.
Find me here, Lord, as You draw me near
I’m desperate for You, desperate for You.
(I surrender.)

Drench my soul as mercy and grace unfold
I hunger and thirst, I hunger and thirst.
With arms stretched wide, I know You hear my cry.
Speak to me now, speak to me now.

I surrender, I surrender.
I wanna know You more, I wanna know You more. (x2)

Like a rushing wind, Jesus breathe within!
Lord have Your way, Lord have Your way in me!
Like a mighty storm, stir within my soul!
Lord have Your way, Lord have Your way in me! (x2)

Benediction: Ephesians 3:14-21

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith — that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
