2016 Thriving Frequency Conference with H.B. Charles II | God's Answer to the Nation's Unrest | Psalm 2

Thriving Frequency Conference 2016 | H.B. Charles II | God's Answer to the Nation's Unrest

I have loved every Thriving event I've had the privilege to attend. Posts from the 2013 Thriving Summit, the 2014 Thriving Frequency conference, and the 2015 Thriving Frequency Conference can be found on this website.

The following post features notes from one of two sermons I was able to hear by H.B. Charles II during the weekend of the 2016 Thriving Frequency Conference, along with songs performed by Doxa, Epiphany Fellowship's choir and band.

How apropos and needed these messages and songs continue to be for me and for all, especially in light of the election results from last night. I hope they encourage you today as well.

 | 1 | God's Answer to the Nation's Unrest by H.B. Charles II, 10/14/2016 | Psalm 2

"Why do the nations rage? Why do the people plot in vain?" + Psalm 2:1

Psalms 1 and 2 are the double doors of seeking wisdom and trusting in Jesus' reign as we live in light of Scriptures' song book.

Psalm 1 | Wisdom There is the way of the righteous, and the way of the wicked, for individuals to choose before God.

Psalm 2 | Messianic Prophecy | God's powerful and peaceful reign and rule extend over all nations, and we all have a responsibility to walk in light of His ways.

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,  “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” + Psalm 2:2-3

The righteous meditate on God's Word and plot the course of their lives in light of Him. The wicked meditate on their own words and plot in vain; in fact, the human rebellion describes God's life-giving way as the bonds of slavery.

Peter T. Forsythe was right when he said, "The first duty of every soul is to find not its freedom but its Master." We will be enslaved by some master. "The one who serves himself or herself has a fool for a master." So who will we serve? Only Jesus is the One God says will reign over heaven and earth with joy and justice.

“As for Me, I have set My King on Zion, my holy hill.” I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to Me, “You are My Son; today I have begotten you. Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your heritage, and the ends of the earth Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.” Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. + Psalm 2:6-11

Throughout history, there have been other governments that have oppressively ruled over and mocked those who would follow Jesus. And they have been met with grace and truth.

Roman Empire | An emperor once said to a Jesus follower before he was killed that "I guess the mighty carpenter isn't getting much business these days. He must be taking a pause from building His mansions." To which the martyr replied, "Yes, he must be taking a pause to build a coffin for your Empire."

French Revolution When the revolution broke out in France, the anarchy spilled into the streets. One young revolutionary climbed the side of a church building, tore off the cross and threw it down into the streets saying, "We are going to tear down every vestige of God." A voice came out from the crowd, "Then you'll have to also throw down each of the stars."

Divine authority is untouched by human rebellion. God's response is divine comedy, divine justice, and divine redemption.

“Let us burst their (the LORD and His Anointed) bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, for His just wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him. + Psalm 2:3-4, 12

He is always and ready for us to find our rest in Him. We do not trust in kings or chariots, but in the name of Jesus who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Because He lives and defeated death, we can live and face the coming and going of reigns and rules that fall under His sovereign power.

You Are My Strength by William Murphy
2014 A.D.

You are my strength, strength like no other,
Strength like no other reaches to me.
In the fullness of Your grace, in the power of Your name,
You lift me up, You lift me up!

Because He Lives by Bill Gaither
1993 A.D.

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Bow Down and Worship Him by Bishop Paul S. Morton
2009 A.D.

Bow down and worship Him, worship Him. Oh, worship Him.
Bow down and worship Him, enter in. Oh, enter in

Consuming fire, sweet perfume,
His awesome presence fills this room.
This is holy ground, this is holy ground.
This is holy ground, so come and bow down.

Let It Be Known by Lincoln Brewster
2014 A.D.

Come on let's turn it up.
We're gonna sing it out
For all the world to hear.
(Oh oh oh oh)
There's life for everyone,
A new day has begun,
Something to shout about!

Let it be known that our God saves,
Our God reigns,
We lift You up, up!
Let it be known that Love has come,
Love has won,
We lift You up, up, up!

Nothing can stop us now,
No one can keep us down,
We found our voice again.
(Oh oh oh oh)
No need for fear and shame,
There's power in His name,
Come on let freedom reign!
(Chorus)

We lift Your name up,
Higher and higher,
We lift Your name up (Jesus)!
We shout Your name out,
Louder and louder,
We shout it out now!

 Sully
