Part 1 | The Love of God
Part 2 | Warrior
Part 3 | Nicodemus
Part 4 | The City
How will Jesus save us together in Worcester? He asks us to (5) “Walk with Me.”
We have to follow Jesus where He leads and obey His ways if we are going to become more like Him. And this means we pray to see where He is walking and what He is doing. Whether it’s with the spiritually, relationally, or economically imprisoned, Jesus said He is among the least of these. He came to save those who know they need Him.
Do we realize our need? How do we meet those in their needs? Not with shouting a message from behind a religious building’s walls or with littering doors with church postcards and hangers, but by actually living and walking with people through the good times and the bad.
Ah, i'm under pressure. / Man, i'm under pressure. / Been trying to walk it out, / I keep ending upon a stretcher. / Problems in life'll stretch you. / Ain't got it all together. / They say the change it’s coming, / But it’s feeling like forever.
Jesus has asked us to walk this journey with Him and others, to run with them the race of life that we're all running. But He hasn't asked us to join the rat race of keeping up with the Joneses. His race involves us joining with Him as He breathes life into us and those we come into contact with who need Him. He asks us to give up our selfish ideas of life to gain His life so that we can love God, serve others, and receive so much more than we could hope or dream.
This choice transforms what we once thought life was. It's not about living for God when He's convenient, and living for ourselves the rest of the time in order to be comfortable. Only His Spirit is the true Comforter in life and in death. And when we realize that dying to the prison of our own wants and desires actually gives us the freedom to step outside our walls and live freely for who and what comes our way, Jesus lives in us and through us to keep us running.
We need His help. Those we live with in Worcester need His help. We can cry out together:
So i drop to my knees and i scream with my might. / "i know that these walls can’t hear me." / i say, "Lord, please won’t You hear my cry?" / i know that these walls can’t hear me. / Maybe if i plead and i sing out loud? / i know that these walls can’t hear me. / Jesus come walk, come walk with me now / ‘Cause i know that these walls can’t hear me.
(Jesus walks.) / God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down. / (Jesus walks with me.) / The only thing I pray is that my feet don't fail me now. / (Jesus walks.) / And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs. / (Jesus walks with me.) / I want to talk to God, but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long. / To the hustlers, killers, murderers, drug dealers even the strippers. / (Jesus walks with them.) / To the victims of welfare for we living in hell here, hell yeah. / (Jesus walks with them.) / Now hear ye, hear ye, want to see Thee more clearly. / I know He hear me when my feet get weary.
To discover the words we can and should speak when our feet do get weary, check back on Tuesday for Part 6 | How Long.
