I love music. What a gift from God that songs even exist in our world. And as I continue to enjoy the thrill of sharing the vision of Emmaus City Church with people in person and online, I've found that many begin to understand what we are about by listening to it. They're aural learners. Others learn visually; so creating a logo, using illustrations, watching a video, etc. is enlightening for them. Others learn kinetically; so making a dinner together, organizing a neighborhood party, creating an Emmaus City origami, etc., benefits their ability to learn through doing something. But this next series of posts is for the people who learn aurally. Or who just love music like me.
Emmaus City Church's "The Story in Song" relates through music how we can become like Jesus together with others in Worcester. So enjoy listening to how the gospel story might transform into a symphony in our city. And enjoy envisioning how you might play your part.
(1) The Love of God is where our story begins and ends. The story of God and His love encompasses all of us.
The love of God is greater far / Than tongue or pen can ever tell; / It goes beyond the highest star, / And reaches to the lowest hell. / The guilty pair, bowed down with care, / God gave His only Son to win. / His erring child He reconciled / and pardoned you and i from our sin.
This good news of God’s love is so compelling, the most copied and written about book in history – the Bible – includes it. There are more words beyond those written in the Scriptures that are sung about this God; but there will never be enough words to contain Him.
Could we with ink the ocean fill / And were the skies of parchment made, / Were every stalk on earth a quill and every man a scribe by trade / To write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry; / Nor could the scroll contain the whole, / Though stretched from sky to sky.
Tomorrow brings Part 2 | Warrior.
