Amazing Grace
By John Newton
By John Newton
1779 A.D.
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see!
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see!
T'was grace that taught
My heart to fear,
And grace, my fears relieved!
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
And grace, my fears relieved!
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come!
Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home!
Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home!
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures!
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures!
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures!
When we've been there ten thousand years,
bright shining as the sun;
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Then when we've first begun!
bright shining as the sun;
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Then when we've first begun!

8:25-8:30 p.m.: Close with Come Though Fount and 10 Days Litany
By Robert Robinson
1758. A.D.
Come
Thou fount of every blessing,
Tune
my heart to sing Thy grace.
Streams
of mercy never ceasing
Call
for songs of loudest praise.
Teach
me some melodious sonnet
Sung
by flaming tongues above.
I'll
praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it;
Mount
of Thy redeeming love.
Here I raise my Ebenezer
Hither
by thy help I come.
And
I hope by thy good pleasure
Safely
to arrive at home.
Jesus
sought me when a stranger
Wondering
from the fold of God.
He,
to rescue me from danger
Interposed
His precious blood.
O
to grace how great a debtor
Daily
I'm constrained to be! Let Thy goodness like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee!
Prone to wander Lord I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love!
Here's my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above!
10 Days of Prayer Litany
Leader | Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus …
People | Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full
assurance of faith.
Leader | Let us then
approach the throne of grace with confidence,
People | So we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our
time of need.
Leader | Lord, our
needs are many and great . . .
People | Our nation is divided; our cities are divided;
communities are divided one against another. Old prejudices remain; wounds
fester; injustice prevails; violence and mistrust seem to rule the day.
Leader | Make Your
people one, Lord; make us instruments of Your peace.
Together | Lord, we come to You in unity of heart and voice,
asking You to bring Your people in Worcester to unity so that our communities
may know You, revealed through us, Your body.
Leader | Lord, You
told us to be in the world, but the ways of this world are very much in us.
People | Forgive us Lord, for embracing the ways of the world
more than seeking Your Kingdom first. Give us increasing hunger and thirst for
Your Kingdom, Lord; that we may find it and that we may reveal it to the world.
Leader | Lord, the
harvest is plentiful . . .
People | But the laborers are few.
Together | Lord of the harvest, prepare us and move us into Your
harvest field. Strengthen Your body with grace, compassion, wisdom and courage.
Give us Your heart for our communities that we might reveal You through our
words and deeds.
Leader | Let Your
Kingdom come, Lord.
People | Let Your will be done, Lord, here in Worcester as it is
in heaven.
Together | Lord, we turn our hearts from the distractions of this
today to the reality of Your Kingdom. Grant us a holy hatred for sin and
injustice, and a heavenly hunger Your justice, mercy, and humility as we walk
this life with You.
Leader | “The Spirit
and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let all who hear say, ‘Come!’”
Together | Come in the fullness of Your Kingdom! Come in the
fullness of Your victory! Come in the fullness of Your glory! Amen!
Father, love us. Jesus, lead us. Spirit, embolden us.
