Lead Pastor

"We’re leading God’s sons and daughters. And we act accordingly as God is trusting us with His family. They’re heaven’s nobility. We have a precious stewardship."

"You’re success in following Jesus with others as a leader is based on their success in following Him through your leadership. Help lead His family in such a way that you don’t just keep your people from evil, you see them inspired to do good. Lead them in such a way that they don't just get things done; lead them to flourish."

"Bless the people God gives you to lead through the gifts God has given you so that they can go bless the people in their neighborhoods, workplaces, towns and cities."

"The kingdom is where Jesus reigns and rules. Systems of growth in the church should be in place so that your people are enabled to live out how to showcase the rule and reign of Jesus better in their lives."

"We want people looking into the church – into our homes, into our families – and seeing a different country led by a different King. What we believe, what we value and what we do needs to be consistent with the rule and reign and Jesus."

"We lead so that God’s mission will be accomplished across all nations and so that God’s glory will be exalted because of it. We lead them to set them on mission to what God has already called them to do."

"Culture trumps strategy every time. A healthy ministry culture does not happen without healthy leaders. If you don’t have healthy leaders who don’t authentically live the identity God has given them to be like Jesus, then nothing else matters. The people won’t follow what they can't see and hear lived out in front of them."

"Start with character. Don’t look for competence and hope that character will come."

"You constantly see Joshua involved with what Moses is doing. But there’s no record of Joshua developing his next in line. And when Joshua dies, we have a nation that does not remember what the Lord has done."

Community Christian Church

Lead Pastor

"Learn how to B.L.E.S.S. people wherever they are at and whatever they believe. Begin with prayer. Listen. Eat. Serve. Share your story. Equipping the saints involves bringing everyone to a condition of fitness so that all of the parts of the body can work together."

"We need to prepare every player on the team to do the best that they can for the team."

"In your leadership, your fruit grows on other people’s trees. When it comes to coaching, relationship is the task. Before every great moment comes great coaching."

6 Key Leadership Questions for People You are Leading

  • How are you doing? – relational investment
  • What are you celebrating? – reinforce the culture
  • What challenges are you facing? – they set the agenda
  • What are you doing about that challenge? – don’t make them dependent on you
  • How can I help? – step in with what you know
  • How can I pray for you? – benefit each other by praying together

"
Developing leaders will not make as loud of a bang (ex. dynamite thrown in the air versus burrowed in the light of the hill), but it will create new holes in areas where there used to be mountains."

"Jesus’ promises for the church are almost always related to sending. For example, in John 16:7 we are given the promise of the Holy Spirit. Here, Scripture tells us that it is more advantageous for the world to have the church moving through the power of the Holy Spirit than Jesus Himself staying in the world. Jesus says that whoever is least in the Kingdom, through the Holy Spirit, is greater than John the Baptizer (Matthew 11:11)."

"Thirty-nine out of the forty miracles that happened in the Book of Acts did not happen in the gathering, but out on the streets
. The first time the gospel leaves Jerusalem, it’s not through an apostle – it’s the lay people. We need to learn how to reach people beyond meetings and events. We should not be gathering an audience; God called us to be a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9) who, by the power of the Holy Spirit are sent (John 20:21-22; Acts 1:8) as His church into our neighborhoods and cities with His armor (Ephesians 6:10-20) and He has promised the gates of hell will not prevail against His church (Matthew 16:18)."

"Developing leaders in His church will not make as loud of a bang (ex. dynamite thrown in the air versus burrowed in the light of the hill), but it will create new holes in areas where there used to be mountains."

"Pushing out leaders actually creates more leaders.

  • Natural reason: We create an attractive culture for other entrepreneurial leaders to come, contribute and leave.
  • Supernatural reason: God is generous; He says 'Give to Me. Won’t I multiply what you've given?'"
"Is there more joy in your city because your church is there? Serve your people by equipping them to take the gospel into their community. Jesus is more excited about those who are sending and being sent than those who are sitting."

Bonus from the GCM Collective: "
The worst leaders are those that forgot where they came from and expect everyone to be where they are presently."
