Homilies and Liturgies 2015 | Emmaus City Church First Public Services of Worship

Seeking Jesus First and His Kingdom

During Emmaus City's First Public Services in Worcester in 2015

One of the many gifts God gave us as a church plant in 2015 was allowing us to begin to meet in a public space in the Fall. We have been able to gather together in a place where we can invite up to 125+ people to join us in learning more about Jesus.

This post is a sample of some of our first services in the Fusion Center, including the sermons and songs. All glory be to Christ for what He has done, is doing, and will do.

Q: What is your only comfort in life and in death?

A: That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by His Holy Spirit He also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for Him.

Q: What is the mission of God’s people?

A: Joining the mission of God. The church is sent with the gospel of the kingdom to call everyone to know and follow Christ and to proclaim to all the assurance that in the name of Jesus there is forgiveness of sin and new life for all who repent and believe. The Spirit calls all members to embrace God’s mission in their neighborhoods and in the world: to feed the hungry, bring water to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, care for the sick, and free the prisoner. We repent of leaving this work to a few, for this mission is central to our being.
