Resurrection Sunday Message + Mass | Colossians 2:9-15: Made Complete and Alive with Christ Forever

Artwork from Bible Project: Psalm 8: Resurrection

Even when you’ve got nothing to give and are empty, God in Jesus brings His fullness to make you complete. Nothing can crucify or bury you that Jesus can’t resurrect. There’s no record as permanent as Jesus’ promise to forgive everything you can’t. If Jesus can transform a cross can into something good, He can do the same with anything wrong in our lives, too. The violence of the cross unmasks the world. The power of the resurrection remakes it. Will you trust such a mighty power of God in Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection for you?

We open our eyes to see Jesus' glory.
We open our ears to hear Jesus' wisdom.
We open our hands to offer Jesus gifts.
We open our mouths to sing Jesus' praise.
We open our hearts to offer Jesus our love.

Call to Worship | Psalm 118:14-17

The Lord is my strength and my song; He has given me victory. Songs of joy and victory are sung in the camp of the godly. The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things! The strong right arm of the Lord is raised in triumph. The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things! I will not die; instead, I will live to tell what the Lord has done.

The Anthem
Planetshakers, 2013 A.D.

By His stripes we are healed,
By His nail-pierced hands we're free.
By His blood, we're washed clean,
Now we have the victory.
The power of sin is broken,
Jesus overcame it all.
He was won our freedom,
Jesus has won it all.

Hallelujah, You have won the victory!
Hallelujah, You have won it all for me!
Death could not hold You down!
You are the risen King seated in majesty,
You are the risen King!

Look and See
Village Church, 2012 A.D.

To Him be the glory for all He has done!
Praise to the Father who gave us His Son!
A ransom for many, He bled and died
Then rose in victory enthroned on high!

To Him be the glory in heaven and earth,
All of creation is shouting His worth.
The saints and the angels all live to proclaim
The wonderful story, the glorious name.

Oh look and see our God and celebrate
The power of the cross and the empty grave!
And now we're free, let the redeemed
Lift up your heads, oh look and see our God!

To Him be the glory, He's coming again
And all of the sadness will come to an end!
Oh what a reunion, the Bride and her King!
Forever we'll praise Him, forever we'll sing!
(Chorus)

Glory, glory to our God!

Prayer of Confession + Assurance | Our World Belongs to God (25-26)

Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us sinners ...

One: Standing in our place, Jesus suffered during His years on earth, especially in the tortures of the cross. He carried God's judgment on our sin—His sacrifice removed our guilt.

All: God raised Him from the dead: He walked out of the grave, conqueror of sin and death—Lord of Life!

One: We are set right with God, given new life, and called to walk with Him in freedom from sin's dominion.

All: Being both divine and human, Jesus is the only mediator. He alone paid the debt of our sin; there is no other Savior.

One: We eat this meal together to remember Jesus' death for us until He returns to fully bring His Kingdom of heaven to earth.

All: Christ has died. Christ is risen! Christ will come again!

Death Was Arrested
NP InsideOut, 2017 A.D.

Alone in my sorrow and dead in my sin,
Lost without hope with no place to begin.
Your love made a way to let mercy come in
When death was arrested and my life began.

Ash was redeemed, only beauty remains.
My orphan heart was given a name.
My mourning grew quiet, my feet rose to dance
When death was arrested and my life began!

Oh, Your grace so free washes over me,
You have made me new, now life begins with You!
It's your endless love pouring down on us,
You have made us new, now life begins with You!

Released from my chains, I'm a prisoner no more.
My shame was a ransom He faithfully bore.
He cancelled my debt and He called me His friend
When death was arrested and my life began! (Chorus)

Our Savior displayed on a criminal's cross.
Darkness rejoiced as though heaven had lost.
But then Jesus arose with our freedom in hand;
That's when death was arrested and my life began!
(Chorus + Bridge)

Oh, we're free, free, forever we're free!
Come join the song of all the redeemed!
Yes, we're free, free, forever, amen,
When death was arrested and my life began!
(Repeat Bridge)
